About

I have been a working artist my entire career. Graphic design, both corporate and retail, illustration, print, digital, multimedia all bundled up with excellent MAC computer production skills. I started on the board, transitioned to computers  and I am updating my skills and learning newer applications constantly.  I have a solid working knowledge of the entire graphic and web industry and experience working with agencies, corporations, publishing houses, printers, packagers and customers.

Early on, I worked as an animator and cartoonist. As my illustration opportunities expanded I ventured into advertising illustration and book illustration. As a graphic designer I was fortunate to have the to opportunity to work for WHSMITH Bookstore as their promotional coordinator developing their in- store promotional signing and POP support material for book sales and author book signings. I also designed and co-ordinated their window and in-store displays across Canada. I continued this work with Walmart Canada working even more intensely on corporate branding with the addition of a weekly retail flyer.

In between WHSMITH and WALMART,  I started “Wee Back Door Designs” working as a freelancer, specializing in graphic design, packaging, illustration and computer production. I had great clients like McDonald's, Eatons, Burger King, Regal Greetings and Canadian Tire to name a few. I designed annual reports, internal Human Resources material, newsletters, catalogues, flyers and supplied illustration and graphic design for many advertising agencies and publishers. I sculpted 3D giftware and promoted my product line in gift shows at New York's Javits Centre. I became an author, illustrated books and went on book signing tours across Canada. I still had time to teach at George Brown College in Toronto and Georgian College in Barrie. I taught graphic design and computer production and all things MAC. Teaching is a very satisfying career!

In the new millennium I began to do more personalized work, painting old furniture and building 1/12 scale doll houses, which I sell at local art shows. I recently won second place in an International Doll House contest sponsored by the Doll House Miniature Merchant's Association for an original dollhouse entry.

Have I been busy…yes! Am I over qualified to work for you? Never!

How can one be over qualified doing something they love and learning more every day? Over my career I have worn many hats, I never wanted to wear just one. I can do many things, and do many things very well, including plain old computer production, which I happen to find extremely satisfying. I like the organizational skills and detail orientated mind set that is required to put together complicated artwork. I enjoy it…call me crazy.

I am an imaginative, creative, designer and illustrator, an experienced computer production artist with a solid working knowledge of the entire graphic and web industry. If you require a graphic designer who is experienced and able to take a job from concept to final art, one who is familiar with the ins and outs of the printing industry, and is up to date with current software, organized, self motivated and resourceful; I am that person. Confident and reliable, quick to learn and capable of working independently and supporting a team, I am an individual who enjoys every challenge and always aims to please!
